A Sampling of Splendor

The white Liliacs out my bedroom window

this warm evening in May,

fill the air with sweet perfume.

A little while earlier I saw...
wild fern tip toe through the periwinkle.

***
Bully, bossy, Boston Ivy running amuck way out back.

***

Always welcome Ajuga was standing at attention for my camera.

***

The blueberry bush all heavy with blossoms,
happy in a bed of blue speedwell.

What is there not to love about spring on Cape Cod?

Near and Dear

The house sparrow
is a common little bird in my neighborhood.
Often overlooked and in spite of it's many short comings is always welcome here.

“I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.”
Henry David Thoreau
