Near and Dear

The house sparrow
is a common little bird in my neighborhood.
Often overlooked and in spite of it's many short comings is always welcome here.

“I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.”
Henry David Thoreau

Sparrows are welcome in my garden too. I make sure there is plenty of seed on the ground and in the feeders for them. How sweet the little sparrow poking his head out of the box. x
